AnyLogic 8.1 and new AnyLogic Cloud features

AnyLogic has been updated to 8.1 together with AnyLogic Cloud. The new features allow users to:

  • ”Like” models, leave comments, and send personal messages to other users.
  • Upload model source files along with the model, grant access to other developers or all Cloud users.
  • View statecharts, flowcharts, and system dynamics elements in Cloud-based model animation.
  • Run models with vector 3D animation including pan and zoom. Support of shapes from the 3D Objects panel is under development.

To access most of these features, you need to update to AnyLogic 8.1 and upload your models to the Cloud using AnyLogic 8.1.

What's new in this version?

AnyLogic 8 is integrated with AnyLogic Cloud – a web service that allows you to run models online on any devices, including phones and tablets, and share the models with other users. AnyLogic Cloud is a powerful tool to perform online simulation analytics with a wide range of model experiments and custom web dashboards.

With AnyLogic Cloud, you can:

  • Execute multiple simulation runs in parallel and compare the results.
  • Immediately retrieve simulation results of all performed experiments in Excel format.
  • View HTML5 animation of a model in a web browser.
  • Edit model parameters in teams using version control.
  • Access publicly shared models or create your own online simulations portfolio.

  • Support of high resolution displays (HiDPI, Retina, etc.)
  • Create Text File, Excel File, Image or Object3D by dropping an external file onto agent's diagram

AnyLogic 7.3. The new Road Traffic Library.

What's new in this version?

  • Road Traffic Library

The new Road Traffic Library allows you to simulate vehicle traffic on roads. The library supports detailed modeling of vehicle movement on roads. Each vehicle represents an agent that can have its behavioral patterns inside. The library allows the users to simulate:

- Vehicle movement on roads, taking into account driving regulations.
- Traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, and priorities at junctions.
- Parkings.
- Public transport movements.

The Road Traffic library is suitable for modeling highway traffic, street traffic, on-site transportation at manufacturing sites, or any other systems with vehicles, roads, and lanes. A special traffic density tool allows you to analyze road network load.

  • Fluid Library: new blocks and other enhancements

We added more blocks to the Fluid Library (FluidPickup, FluidDropoff, MixTank and ProcessTank) and radically improved the library engine so that the execution speed stays high even for vast and dynamically reconfigured networks. The fluid library blocks now collect statistics on stored amounts and flow rates and move it to the built-in database. Improvements also include custom reaction on rate changes, extended API, and better animation.

What's new in this version?

  • Built-in database

AnyLogic models now have a built-in fully integrated database to read input data and write simulation output. Export the database with the model, it is as portable and cross-platform as the model itself. With the new database, you can:

- Read parameter values and configure models
- Create parameterized agent populations
- Generate entity arrivals in the process models
- Import data from other databases or Excel spreadsheets and store it in the readily available form
- Log flowchart activities, events, statechart transitions, message passing, and agent biographies.
- View resource utilization, waiting, processing and travel times
- Store and export statistics, datasets, and custom logs

  • Fluid Library

The new Fluid Library allows you to efficiently simulate storage and transfer of fluids, bulk matter, or large amounts of discrete items, which you do not want to represent as separate objects.

  • Escalators and zigzag queues for pedestrian flow models

Highly customizable escalator and zigzag (or serpentine) queue objects in the upgraded AnyLogic Pedestrian Library.

  • Railway routing option for GIS models

In addition to the car, bike, and foot routing methods, AnyLogic GIS object now offers routing by railways.

Gas Station Simulation Model

  • Shapefile conversion to AnyLogic markup

Automatically convert vector graphics from imported shapefiles into AnyLogic markup elements, such as rail tracks, which can be used in the Rail Library.

  • Quick popup help for library blocks and parameters

Now if you hold the mouse pointer over a library element or a parameter, a window with quick help will pop up.

  • New example models

The new models include Distribution Сenter and Gas Station.

New GIS implementation (tiled maps)

  • The model now has access to all the data stored along with the online-based map (i.e. Open Street Map): cities, regions, road networks, objects (hospitals, schools, bus stops, etc.).
  • You can place agents in specified points on the map, and make them move along existing roads or routes.
  • You can create the required elements inside the model, using the built-in Google Maps-style search or new space markup elements (i.e. GIS Point, GIS Route, and GIS Region).
  • Once downloaded, tiles are cached, enabling users to work in offline mode.

  • Re-designed block icons (i.e. Process Modeling, Pedestrian, and Rail Library).
  • Ability to define Time, Rate, Speed, Length, Acceleration, and Area units for parameters. For example, you now have the ability to quickly set your agents’ speed at miles or kilometers per hour, choose time units for timeouts in events, transitions, Source blocks, and so on.
  • Updated space markup element Scale, now allows you to quickly define the scale for agent's animation (i.e. the ratio of the agent's animation to its actual size).
  • Transition to Java 8: better API for writing collection-related code.
  • Example models added: Airport with Two Terminals, Corporate Education GIS, Product Delivery, and Oil Supply Chain.
