AnyLogic in Asia: AnyLogic in Three Days in Japanese and Chinese October Events 01.11.2013 Stepan Egorov

This October, we participated in several events in Japan and China, including the ITpro Expo in Tokyo, and the China International Logistics and Transportation Fair (CILF) in Shenzhen, two of the biggest industry events in the countries. The book AnyLogic in Three Days, which is based on the 3 day AnyLogic training, will soon be published in Japanese. The book is co-authored by Ilya Grigoryev, Head of Training Services at the AnyLogic Company, and Nobuaki Minato, Project Associate Professor at Graduate School of SDM, Keio University.

Fall Events in North America: INFORMS Annual Meeting 2013 and Others 23.10.2013 Scott Hebert

AnyLogic 7 Alpha Presented at Simulation Events in the UK 24.09.2013 Alena Beloshapko

This September the simulation society in UK enjoyed two meaningful events – OR55 Annual Conference and 8th EUROSIM Congress. The first one is more attended by practitioners and the second one is a more academic event. At both conferences people were very excited about AnyLogic 7, although there were concerns by the move towards a wizard based system and how it might damage the 'power' of AnyLogic. We are keen to assure you that it is a baseless fear! Wizards are aimed to facilitate the learning curve for those who are new to the software. If you do not need Wizard’s assistance, you can easily skip this option and continue creating models via regular interface.

Fundamentals and In-Depth Training in San Jose, CA 24.09.2013 Scott Hebert

AnyLogic North America had another successful training. In San Jose, over a dozen students representing commercial interests from marketing and epidemiology to semiconductor manufacturing and behavioral modeling, learned how to apply AnyLogic’s unique multimethod modeling capability to their business problems. Users of all three modeling methods – System Dynamics, Discrete Event, and Agent Based modeling – were represented. Many interesting discussions occurred regarding when to use which method, and the networking among the students yielded excellent benefits for both students and ALNA.

AnyLogic North America Attends Agent-Based Modeling Bootcamp for Health Researchers 27.08.2013 John Yedinak

AnyLogic North America was to take part in Dr. Nate Osgood’s 3rd Annual Agent-Based Modeling Bootcamp for Health Researchers last week at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. Dr. Osgood’s platform of choice is AnyLogic for many reasons, not least the graphical nature of the editor, the excellent support offered by The AnyLogic Company, and the software’s multimethod capabilities. The bootcamp was attended by roughly 25 people, most of them academicians, with a high proportion of them interested in epidemiology. However, according to Dr. Osgood, a large proportion of attendees indicated that multimethod modeling was an item of high interest to them, and he adjusted the course content accordingly.

AnyLogic 7 Alpha Version Released 14.08.2013 Stepan Egorov

This alpha version is not intended as an official release and will not be distributed publicly. However, AnyLogic users will get an opportunity to get a glimpse of it at any of the upcoming events the AnyLogic Company is going to take part in. For example, the first unofficial presentation will be made at the Agent-Based Modeling Bootcamp for Health Researchers on August 19-24, in Saskatoon, Canada. You are also welcome to reach us at other events to see the alpha version! The final official release of AnyLogic 7 will be available in winter 2013. Stay tuned!

Times Square Outdoor Advertising Effectiveness Model Chosen! 09.08.2013 Stepan Egorov

The winner of the simulation modeling contest, organized by The AnyLogic Company on RunTheModel.com, has been decided. Alex Shcherbyna, from the Ukraine, won with his Times Square Outdoor Advertising Effectiveness model. His model is a presentation of simulation for an outdoor advertising estimation in the media planning industry. In an interview, Alex tells us how he got this far.

AnyLogic North America participated in the 31st International Conference of the System Dynamics Society, Cambridge, Massachusetts USA, July 21 – July 25, 2013. The conference brought together people from around the world to share important research and application results to build the community of those active in the field of Systems Dynamics.
